Landscaping in Kingston, GA

Etowah River bottomland, and everything that follows from a high water table.

The ground in Kingston

Kingston sits on the Etowah where the valley is wide and flat, and the bottomland is exactly what it sounds like: rich, deep alluvial soil, easy to dig, and wetter than it looks for weeks after a hard rain. The river has been laying that soil down for a long time, which is why it grows anything and why it holds water.

What that means for the build

Water table is the constraint. It changes where a pool can go, how a footing gets bedded, and whether a low terrace is a good idea at all. Bottomland is generous ground to plant into and unforgiving ground to build low on.

The properties

River tracts, working farmland and older homes on large parcels, where there is usually more yard than anyone is currently using.

What usually leads in Kingston

Every trade is available across the whole service area. These are the ones that tend to carry a Kingston project:

  • DrainageFrench drains, catch basins, downspout tie-ins and swales. Georgia clay does not drink water — it holds it, and every terrace, wall and lawn on this list lasts exactly as long as the water under it is managed.
  • Planting & Bed WorkBeds cut with a real edge, laid out to the architecture rather than around it, and planted to read as intentional the day it goes in and better in five years.
  • Retaining Walls & GradingSegmental block walls, cut-and-fill grading and the drainage behind both. Georgia clay holds water and moves; a wall that was not drained is a wall that leans.

All ten trades run in-house, so one crew and one schedule covers the whole job.
